Kannauj (The Uttam Hindu): A significant accident occurred at Kannauj Railway Station around 3 PM on Saturday when a slab of a building under construction as part of the Amrit Yojana project suddenly collapsed. Approximately 20 workers, who were working under the building, got trapped under the debris, causing panic in the area.

Following the incident, police and senior administrative officials quickly arrived at the scene and initiated rescue operations. Rescue teams began the task of freeing the trapped workers. So far, six workers have been safely rescued and admitted to the hospital, where they are receiving treatment. The operation to rescue the remaining workers is still ongoing, and officials have assured that they will be safely extracted soon.

Reports suggest that at the time of the incident, about 25 workers were engaged in construction work on the building. The sudden collapse of the slab caught them by surprise. The scene was chaotic, with workers and bystanders shouting for help. In addition to local police and administration officials, teams from the GRP, RPF, and SDRF are assisting in the rescue efforts. Minister Aseem Arun, District Magistrate Shubhrant Kumar Shukla, and other senior officials are present at the site, closely monitoring the ongoing operations. The accident occurred during ongoing construction work under the Amrit Yojana project. Authorities are working swiftly to ensure all workers are safely rescued, and the situation remains under close observation.
