Kangana misled on bill, she’s defaulter: Himachal electricity board

Shimla(The Uttam Hindu): A day after Bollywood actress and Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut claimed she was handed a monthly electricity bill of Rs one lakh for her Manali residence, the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Ltd clarified that her statement was misleading and that she was indeed a defaulter.
The electricity board explained that the bill in question was for two months, totaling Rs 90,384. It also stated that Ranaut had not been regularly paying her bills. Furthermore, the board highlighted that the connected load at her residence is 94.82 kW, which is significantly higher—about 1,500 percent—than a typical household's load. In its clarification, the board corrected Ranaut’s assertion that the bill was for a single month. The amount also included an outstanding previous balance of Rs 32,287, making the total for two months Rs 90,384.
Ranaut, while addressing a public gathering in Mandi on Tuesday, had claimed she received a bill of Rs one lakh for her Manali residence, which she rarely occupies. She also criticized the Sukhvinder Sukhu-led Congress government, saying, “They’ve increased bus fares, investigated samosas, and these actions are embarrassing. I believe they are like wolves, and we need to rescue the state from their claws.
