New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Indian Railways is set to launch 50 new Amrit Bharat trains to improve connectivity across the country. These trains will feature several modern amenities with a mix of general and second-class coaches along with a pantry car. U Subba Rao, the General Manager of the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, shared that 25 of these trains will be manufactured by ICF while the remaining 25 will be produced at the Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Kapurthala. Each train will consist of 22 coaches and the first six Amrit Bharat trains are expected to be rolled out this fiscal year, building on the improvements made in earlier prototypes.

So far, ICF has produced 81 Version 2 trains, following the launch of two Version 1 rakes in 2018 and 2019. ICF is working on producing 6 more Amrit Bharat trains this year as part of a total order of 97 trains. Due to the increasing demand for the Vande Bharat trains, ICF is also now focusing on manufacturing longer 20-car trains which has led to some delays in the production of new Vande Bharat trains, though the overall coach production is on track.
