Hyderabad (The Uttam Hindu): Hyderabad Metro played a crucial role in a heart transplant mission, covering a distance of 13 kilometers in just 13 minutes. The metro facilitated the transport of a donor heart from Kamineeni Hospital in LB Nagar to Gleneagles Global Hospital in the Lakdi Ka Pul area, saving precious time for the life-saving procedure. A video of this remarkable journey has gone viral on social media.

The metro’s swift travel through 13 stations created a Green Corridor, ensuring that the heart reached its destination quickly. This Green Corridor was established at 9:30 PM on January 17. The medical team at Kamineeni Hospital placed the donor heart in a medical box and sent it via metro to Gleneagles Global Hospital where the heart transplant was scheduled.

The video, which has been widely shared shows hospital doctors and staff accompanying the heart on its journey in the metro. This seamless coordination was made possible by careful planning and cooperation between Hyderabad Metro Rail, medical professionals and hospital officials, all under the supervision of the doctors involved.
