Chamoli (The Uttam Hindu) : A massive landslide struck the Hemkund Sahib yatra route in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district on Wednesday, damaging a bridge over the Alaknanda River and forcing the suspension of the pilgrimage. The landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall in the region, occurred near the village of Govindghat, a key stopover for devotees headed to the revered Sikh shrine of Hemkund Sahib. The bridge which is the only connectivity link between Govindghat and Hemkund Sahib, was severely damaged in the landslide.
