Jaipur (The Uttam Hindu): Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde on Thursday called on the youth to actively contribute towards achieving the vision of a 'Developed India' by embracing self-reliance and self-employment as outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP). Speaking at the inauguration of the 59th Devgiri State Conference of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in Latur Maharashtra Bagde highlighted the crucial role of youth who contribute around 34 percent to the nation's GDP. He urged the ABVP to lead efforts in engaging young people from various sectors in nation-building fostering a strong 'Nation First' spirit. The Governor emphasized the importance of determination in bridging the development gap between rural and urban areas ensuring balanced growth across the country.

Bagde stressed the need for collective efforts under the principles of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas" to restore India's position as a global leader. He expressed confidence that with the youth’s energy and creativity directed towards national progress significant change would be achieved. Reflecting on the history of India's education system Bagde noted that British-era reforms particularly those introduced by Macaulay aimed to undermine the nation's cultural heritage. While political freedom was attained in 1947 educational reforms he observed were delayed. The introduction of the NEP in 2020 following the 1986 policy was a landmark moment according to Bagde. He praised the policy for promoting Indianness fostering self-employment and ensuring holistic development of students. Bagde also lauded the integration of modern technologies with traditional Indian knowledge in the NEP urging the youth to dedicate themselves to nation-building. In his address the Governor also acknowledged the historical significance of ABVP which was founded by Balraj Madhok as a platform for national upliftment and recognized the importance of the Devgiri State Conference in this context.
