New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The farmers' march towards Delhi has now reached the Supreme Court. Gaurav Luthra from Punjab has filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding that all borders be reopened. According to the petition, the closure of borders is a violation of the fundamental rights of the people.

After the failure by farmers to march towards Delhi on Friday, they once again attempted it on Sunday but were stopped by Haryana Police with the aid of tear gas shells and water cannons. At least nine farmers were injured during this clash.

In his petition, Gaurav Luthra has sought a direction to the central, Punjab, and Haryana governments to reopen the borders. He argued that restricting movement at the borders is an infringement on people's basic rights. The Supreme Court is likely to hear the petition soon.

Meanwhile, farmer leaders have called off the march to Delhi temporarily. On Monday, a meeting of all farmer organizations has been scheduled to decide the course of further action. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher confirmed that farmers who are injured have been hospitalized, but the agitation will continue.
