Uttar Pradesh (The Uttam Hindu): In a remarkable incident from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, a wedding was brought to an abrupt end owing to a disagreement over song selection by the DJ. The situation went out of control when the groom's relatives requested a particular song, and in the DJ's refusal, a disturbance ensued. In this manner, the contention escalated into a full confrontation between the two families.

Reports have it that one of the demands that had the brother-in-law to the groom very adamant was to play his favorite song. The DJ declined this request, which led to an argument where the brother-in-law became aggressive. The bride's family was opposed to the demand, and the brawl was very fierce and eventually physical, with many injured people on both sides.

She then made the decision to call off the wedding after hearing of the chaos. She told the groom's family to go back with the baraat (wedding procession). Family members tried to persuade her to change her mind, but she stood firm, stating that she could not marry into a family where a minor disagreement could escalate to such violence. The wedding was to be solemnized on November 25 at Bhaddi Khera village, Nigohra. The bridegroom's baraat came from Bachhravan Icholi village in Raebareli. The bridegroom's family had received them with all the customary religious ceremonies. But after this door worship ceremony, a difference of opinion over the playing of a song by DJ marred what was to have been a celebratory occasion.

Despite the groom and the senior family members' efforts, the bride did not get satisfaction with what happened. Finally, she sent the baraat back, which meant that the wedding was called off.
