New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): On Dhanvantari Jayanti and the 9th Ayurveda Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple healthcare projects worth approximately Rs 12,850 crore at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA). A significant highlight of this event is the expansion of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), which will now provide health coverage to all senior citizens aged 70 and above, regardless of their income. The Prime Minister's Office emphasized that this initiative is part of Modi's ongoing commitment to enhance healthcare services across the country.

Among the key projects, Phase II of India's first AIIA will be inaugurated, featuring a Panchakarma hospital, an Ayurvedic pharmacy, a sports medicine unit, and various other facilities. Additionally, three new medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh and extensions at several AIIMS across the country will be inaugurated. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation for multiple nursing colleges and critical care blocks in various states, further bolstering the nation’s healthcare infrastructure under the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister will introduce drone services at 11 Tertiary Healthcare Institutions to improve service delivery, alongside Helicopter Emergency Medical Services from AIIMS Rishikesh. He will launch the U-WIN portal for digitalizing vaccinations for pregnant women and infants, and initiatives to strengthen R&D in healthcare, including new Central Research Institutes. This event marks a significant step toward making healthcare more accessible and efficient, reinforcing the government’s commitment to public health and the Make in India initiative in the medical sector.
