New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In a significant development, the United States is continuing its efforts to deport illegal Indian immigrants, with two flights scheduled to land at Amritsar Airport in Punjab. The first flight is set to arrive today and the second one will arrive tomorrow, Sunday. Both flights are carrying deported Indian nationals, many of whom are reportedly from Punjab. The political atmosphere has become heated as a result of this situation. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has expressed his objections to the decision, claiming that the central government allowed the American planes to land at Amritsar Airport with the intention of defaming the state of Punjab. According to Mann, the arrival of these flights, which are largely carrying deported individuals from Punjab, casts a negative light on the region.

In response to these statements, Punjab BJP Vice President Fatehjang Singh Bajwa countered by pointing out that, out of the people deported so far, only 67 are from Punjab, while the rest of the deportees are from other states. Bajwa argued that the issue should not be used for political gain, and that illegal immigration is a national issue that affects multiple states. This political debate has drawn attention to the challenges surrounding illegal immigration and the deportation process. The controversy has also sparked discussions about how best to address the concerns of various regions while maintaining the dignity of all states involved. As these deportation flights land in Punjab, the focus is expected to remain on the political and social implications of this issue, with both local and national leaders weighing in on the matter.
