New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): With the Delhi Assembly election set for February 5 and results to be announced on February 8, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has made a bold prediction. He believes his party could secure up to 55 seats out of the total 70 in the upcoming polls. However, Kejriwal also emphasized that if women voters in Delhi take an active role and encourage the men in their households to vote for the AAP, the party’s seat count could even surpass 60.

During a roadshow in the Kalkaji constituency, Kejriwal appealed to women, urging them to convince male family members that the BJP only serves the wealthy. He said, "This election belongs to women... If women contribute, we will win more than 60 seats. The AAP will win New Delhi, Jangpura and Kalkaji with a historic margin."

In the 2020 elections, AAP had a dominant win with 62 seats, while the BJP won 8 seats and the Congress failed to secure any. In 2015, AAP had swept 67 of the 70 seats, leaving just three for the BJP. The election's high-octane campaigning ended on Monday at 5 PM as per the Election Commission's Model Code of Conduct (MCC), which mandates that all election-related activities must cease 48 hours before polling begins. The intense political battle has been marked by spoof videos, sharp jabs and loud roadshows. AAP branded the BJP as the "Bharatiya Jhootha Party" and “Gali Galouch Party,” while Prime Minister Narendra Modi hit back by calling AAP “AAP-Daa” (disaster) and Kejriwal “Ghoshna Mantri.”
