Shivsena has clearly said many times that it wants the Home Department, but the BJP wants to keep it with itself. Meanwhile, now the Shiv Sena leader has made a big claim regarding this. In fact, the Shiv Sena led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde once again reiterated that the party is still adamant on the important Home Department and has demanded it from the BJP. Shiv Sena MLA Bharat Gogavale said that the three Mahayuti allies are in talks about the allocation of departments.
The agency quoted Gogavale as saying that when Fadnavis was the deputy chief minister (in the Shinde government), he also had the home portfolio. Now Shinde has demanded the same arrangement and talks are on. "This demand was made to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. We hope that the talks on the portfolios will be completed in the next two days," the Raigad MLA said.
Shinde did not want to become deputy CM
According to reports, Shinde was not ready to become the deputy CM, but Shiv Sena leaders convinced him to take the post. However, he is adamant about the home department, to which the state police reports. The mahayuti comprising the Bharatiya Janata Party, Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) had registered a landslide victory in last month's assembly elections. BJP's Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as chief minister along with Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Pawar on Thursday, 12 days after the results.
