After China, Deadly Disease Spreads in This Indian City, 17 Dead So Far
Jammu (The Uttam Hindu): Following the recent reports of an unknown disease spreading in China, which shook the entire world, there are now concerns about a similar situation in a city in India. In the Badala village of the Rajouri division in Jammu, 17 people from different families have died due to an unidentified illness. In response, the administration has taken precautionary measures by dividing the village into three parts and declaring them as containment zones. The first zone includes the families of the deceased, the second zone covers those who had close contact with the patients of the unknown illness and the third zone includes the remaining unaffected families.
While the investigation into the mysterious deaths continues, authorities have sealed off a nearby spring in the affected area. Preliminary tests on the water from the spring (bawli) have confirmed the presence of some pesticides which has created panic among the local residents. A central team is currently investigating the cause of these deaths and they are being assisted by the Jammu and Kashmir departments of forensic science, animal husbandry and food safety. The team had arrived in Budhal on Sunday to carry out the investigation.
