‘Abbu, this is My last Call...’: UP girl’s heartbreaking final words from Dubai jail

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A Dubai court has sentenced Shahzadi a resident of Banda district in Uttar Pradesh, to death for the death of a child a decision that has left her elderly parents devastated. Shahzadi, who is currently imprisoned in Dubai’s Albatwa jail made a heartbreaking phone call to her father, saying, "Abba, this is my last call. I have now been shifted to another room. It is possible that I may not be able to call you again." The call has left her parents inconsolable and they are now urgently appealing to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar to intervene and save their daughter’s life.

Shahzadi, from Goyra Mughli village, was lured into a love trap by a man named Uzair from Agra, whom she met through Facebook. In 2021, Uzair sent her to Dubai for alleged plastic surgery. However, tragedy struck when the child she was caring for suddenly fell ill and died. Two months later, the child’s parents accused Shahzadi of murder, leading to her arrest. After a trial, a Dubai court sentenced her to death.

During her phone call, Shahzadi's father, Sabbir, learned that his daughter had been moved to a different room in the prison and that the people around her had forced her to make the call, warning her it might be her last. “I spoke to her for about 10 minutes. This is the first time she talked so much," he shared, his voice filled with distress. Sabbir also emphasized that the people with whom Shahzadi had stayed in Dubai, Nazia and Faiz, were the ones who had influenced the situation.

The parents are now desperately seeking intervention from the Indian government, stating that they have made multiple appeals to officials, including the President, Prime Minister, and Foreign Ministry. They maintain that Shahzadi is innocent and that the charges against her are fabricated. With no new information since the call, they fear her execution could be imminent.

As Shahzadi's fate hangs in the balance, her parents’ cries for help continue to echo across borders hoping for a miracle that could save their daughter from a tragic end.
