65,000 Govt Jobs Up for Grabs in This State in Two Years—Is Your Dream Job Among Them?
Bhubaneswar (The Uttam Hindu): The Odisha government has outlined a plan to fill 65,000 vacancies in the state administration over the next two years. On Thursday, the state’s General Administration and Public Grievance (GAPG) department directed nodal officers across all departments to update vacancy details to facilitate the recruitment process.
According to the recruitment web portal as of January 27, 2025 there were 94,819 vacant base-level positions against a sanctioned strength of 3,87,537. Out of these, 40,234 posts have received approval from the empowered committee for recruitment, while 33,420 positions have been forwarded to various recruiting agencies for the hiring process. Among the departments with the highest vacancies, the health and family welfare department leads with 22,711 vacant positions out of 65,528. The school and mass education department follows with 21,154 vacancies out of 1,59,416 sanctioned posts. The home department has 9,880 vacancies, while the revenue and disaster management and higher education departments have 5,301 and 4,733 unfilled positions, respectively.
Meanwhile, the state government revealed that over the past five years more than 12.13 lakh youth had registered with employment exchanges in Odisha but were still awaiting job opportunities. Of the 12,13,924 unemployed individuals, the figures include 3.19 lakh graduates, 51,956 postgraduates, 4.22 lakh intermediate pass-outs, 1.80 lakh matriculates, 42,916 diploma holders, 74,827 trained teachers, 33,691 ITI graduates and 14,750 under-matric candidates. Additionally, two medical graduates and 836 medical postgraduates have also registered with the employment exchange.
