45 Injured, Several Critical in Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Sleeper Coach Bus-Truck Collision Amid Dense Fog
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): On January 2, 2025 at least 45 people were injured, including several critically when a sleeper coach bus collided with two trucks on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Dausa district, Rajasthan. The crash was caused by dense fog which severely limited visibility in the area. The bus, carrying 36 devotees returning from the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh was involved in the accident.
More than 20 injured individuals were transported to Dausa District Hospital for treatment with some being referred to Jaipur for critical care. This incident raises ongoing concerns about road safety during adverse weather conditions as similar accidents have occurred in the past due to fog.
Weather officials had issued a yellow alert for fog in Delhi, which not only impacted visibility but also caused a temperature drop, affecting daily activities, including flight schedules. Travelers were advised to check flight statuses and allow extra time for travel. This incident follows a significant pile-up on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in November, caused by similar foggy conditions.
