In a significant operation, a joint team of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Railway Police Force (RPF) seized 11 kg of hashish from two women aboard the Awadh Express at Gomtinagar railway station in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Acting on intelligence, the team inspected the train, where they discovered 22 packets of hashish, concealed in sacks carried by the women. The contraband was valued at Rs 5.5 crore in the market.

The women, whose behavior raised suspicions among the RPF patrolling team, had boarded the train’s disabled coach. Upon inspecting the sacks they were carrying, the authorities found the hashish. The women were arrested on the spot. The NCB had received intelligence regarding female smugglers on the train, which led to the operation. The train reached Budhwal station at 11:10 pm, where initial searches began in the women’s coach near the disabled compartment. The operation was concluded at Gomtinagar station at 12:38 am.

The arrested women are from the Majhauliya police station area in West Champaran district, Bihar. During questioning, they disclosed that the hashish was meant to be delivered in Kota. They had a contact number for another smuggler who was to receive the drugs in exchange for money. Authorities are now investigating further to uncover the larger smuggling network involved in this operation.
