New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said that HRTC will buy 1,000 new buses this year. These will be replaced with old buses. An order for the purchase of 600 buses has been issued. This also includes 327 electric buses. Agnihotri said that Rs 110 crore has been released for building charging stations.

Harts will buy 1000 new buses this year, order for 600 buses; this includes 324 electric buses : The government is planning to induct 1,500 electric buses. This will be done in various phases. Electric buses are being procured in a phased manner to replace the HRTC fleet. Currently, an order for 327 electric buses has been issued. The bus manufacturing company has asked for 11 months to deliver them.

The cost of electric buses will be around Rs 1.25 crore per bus. The company supplying these buses will be responsible for their maintenance for the next 10 years. HRTC will purchase 250 diesel buses on its own. 100 tempo travellers will be purchased for hilly and remote areas.
