New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Former Minister of State for Transport and descendant of Amar Shaheed Wazir Ram Singh Pathania, Kewal Singh Pathania died late Wednesday night at Nurpur Hospital. 88-year-old Kewal Singh Pathania was unwell for some time. On Wednesday night, his health suddenly deteriorated. His relatives took him to Nurpur Hospital for treatment but he died during this time.

Late Kewal Singh Pathania was elected MLA from Nurpur in 1972 as an independent and in 1990 from Janata Dal. He defeated veteran Congress leader Late Sat Mahajan in both these elections. In 1994, Congress party made him a candidate from Jawalamukhi and after winning the election from there, he became the State Minister of Transport in the cabinet of Raja Virbhadra Singh. He has been counted as an honest and simple man of Himachal Pradesh. His last rites will be performed today in Vasa Bajiran. In 1972, Pathania contested the election from Nurpur constituency and reached the Vidhan Sabha. In 1990, he became MLA from Jawalamukhi for the second time in Virbhadra Singh's government. Then he was made the Transport Minister in the Virbhadra government.
