CID probes after samosas for Himachal CM Sukhu served to staff by mistake

Shimla (The Uttam Hindu): The Himachal Pradesh CID has launched an inquiry after food items intended for Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu were mistakenly served to his staff during an October 21 event at the CID headquarters. The error, which involved samosas and cake, was described by a senior officer as an "anti-government" act, suggesting it disrespected the VVIP protocol expected for the Chief Minister's visit. The program was held to inaugurate a new cyber fraud reporting system, where the oversight occurred.

According to the investigation, an Inspector General had instructed a sub-inspector to arrange food from a Shimla hotel. Following these orders, an assistant sub-inspector and head constable collected three boxes of food, eventually passing them to an Inspector. Unaware of their intended recipient, she instructed that the boxes be stored in a senior officer's room. This miscommunication led to the items being mistakenly served to the CM's staff.

The CID report suggests that only a sub-inspector knew the food was for the CM. Statements from involved personnel revealed a breakdown in protocol, as the woman inspector, unaware of the contents, directed the boxes to another section. This internal miscommunication led to the food being served to staff instead of the Chief Minister. The CID is now working to determine accountability and prevent similar errors in future events.
