Work on National Highway DPR Stuck: Key Project from Dabwali to Panipat Delayed

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The ambitious project to construct a National Highway from Dabwali, located on the Punjab-Rajasthan border in Sirsa district, Haryana, to Panipat is facing significant delays. Despite the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the 300 km highway being submitted to the central government two years ago, progress has stalled. The announcement of this major project was made four years ago during the tenure of Dushyant Chautala as Deputy Chief Minister.
The proposed four-lane highway is expected to be a crucial infrastructure development, benefiting industries in both Punjab and Rajasthan as well as Panipat. The highway will connect seven national highways and 14 towns, significantly improving transportation and boosting economic growth in the region. The estimated cost of the project stands at US $867.61 million (approximately Rs 6,500 crore).
According to Sunil, an NHAI officer from Hisar, construction work will commence as soon as the government approves the DPR. Once completed, the highway will pass through several key areas, including Siwah, Sutana, Thermal, Untla, Nara, Assandh, Naguran, Uchana, Litani, Uklana, Saniyana, Bhuna, Ratia, Hanspur, Sardulgarh, Rodi, Kalawali and Dabwali.
In Fatehabad district, the highway will start at the Punjab border and pass through Ratia, Bhuna and Saniyana. From there, it will continue through Dabwali, Kalawali, Rodi, Sardulgarh, Hanspur, Ratia, Bhuna, Saniyana, Uklana, Litani, Uchana, Naguran and Assandh Safidon, ultimately connecting to Panipat. The highway will begin near Siwah and connect to NH-709, further enhancing connectivity.
In addition to these vital linkages, a new greenfield expressway will be constructed from Panipat to Chautala village in Sirsa, providing direct access from Bikaner to Meerut. While the project promises significant benefits for several districts, including Karnal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad, and Sirsa, its completion remains delayed, awaiting the necessary approvals from the central government. The residents and industries of the region eagerly await the progress of this essential infrastructure project.
