New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In a significant development for air travel in Haryana, Alliance Air's 72-seater ATR-72600 aircraft successfully completed a trial landing at Maharaja Agrasen Airport on Friday. The aircraft, which arrived from Delhi, was warmly welcomed with a water cannon salute upon landing. After the trial, the aircraft took off again for Delhi after a brief stopover of 40-50 minutes.

This trial landing marks a critical step in the lead-up to the inauguration of regular flight services from the airport, scheduled for April 14. The event is set to be graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will lay the foundation stone for the new airport terminal and officially launch air services.

Administrative officials also visited the airport to review the preparations for the upcoming inauguration.

The flight schedule for the new services, initially set to connect Hisar with cities like Ayodhya, Jammu, Jaipur, Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Chandigarh, will be finalized before April 14. The schedule will allow passengers to book flights online, with a window of 7 to 10 days for bookings. Alliance Air planes are expected to arrive a day or two before the launch to ensure everything is in place.

The new air services, which will be funded through the Viable Gap Funding (VGF) scheme, will offer affordable fares for passengers, providing crucial connectivity to cities across the country. In the future, new routes are expected to be added, further enhancing the accessibility of the region.

With this successful trial landing, Hisar is set to become an important hub in the region, opening new opportunities for travel and connectivity.
