Sonipat (The Uttam Hindu): On January 18, 2025 the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Haryana Police successfully reunited 22-year-old Neha with her family after 15 years. Neha had gone missing from Wardha district in Maharashtra when she was just 7 years old. Since 2012, she had been residing at a childcare institution called Balgram in Sonipat, Haryana.

The AHTU's efforts began when Neha approached Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajesh Kumar at the shelter, expressing her wish to locate her family. During counseling, Neha shared important details about her neighborhood and cultural markers that helped the police investigate a missing persons case filed in Wardha on March 15, 2010.

After a thorough investigation and communication with Neha's family the police were able to contact her brother, Aniket who recognized her during a video call. The family then traveled to Sonipat to reunite with Neha after completing the necessary formalities under the supervision of the Child Welfare Committee. The emotional reunion was filled with tears of joy from Neha and her family, underscoring the AHTU's successful efforts in resolving long-term missing persons cases and reuniting families.
