Karnal (The Uttam Hindu): A late-night raid by the Health Department and Drug Department in Karnal led to the arrest of a quack doctor who was caught selling MTP kits and illegal medicines. The raid, which took place at a clinic in Shiv Colony, uncovered numerous violations, including the operation of the clinic without a valid medical degree or registration.

Doctor Shinu Chaudhary, Deputy Civil Surgeon PNDT, who was present at the scene, provided details of the operation. The Karnal Civil Surgeon had received reports over the past few days about someone selling MTP kits at a clinic in the area. Acting on this information, a team was formed, and an undercover customer was sent to the clinic. The clinic operator, Parveen, sold the MTP kit for Rs. 1,000, which led to his immediate apprehension by the Health Department team.

During questioning, it was revealed that Parveen had been running the clinic for the past one and a half years without any medical qualifications or records. In addition to the MTP kit, several illegal medicines were found at the clinic, which has now been seized by authorities. The team, which included Deputy CMO and Drug Department officers, is continuing to investigate the matter.

Ritu Mehla, a drug officer involved in the raid, confirmed that 61 types of unregistered medicines were found at the clinic. These were kept without any records, and Parveen did not possess any valid medical qualifications. His degree, a CMC degree, is not recognized in India or Haryana, and therefore, he is not authorized to practice medicine. Strict legal action is being taken, including registering a case against the accused, and departmental measures will be enforced.

When questioned, Parveen admitted to his illegal actions but tried to shift the blame. He stated, "Many people are doing this. I'm not the only one. Ten days ago, someone gave me the illegal medicines, and I didn’t know much about it." He acknowledged his mistake but claimed he did not know the consequences. He also mentioned that others in the colony were operating without degrees as well.

The Health Department’s team continued their investigation into the matter through the night, and both the illegal medicines and Parveen have been handed over to the police for further legal action. Further steps will be determined based on the ongoing investigation.
