Haryana Government to Probe Land Allocated to Waqf Board, Committee Formed

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Haryana government will now investigate the Shamlat Deh land given to the Waqf Board in the state. Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini made this announcement during the budget session. He said that Peer Bodhi's land was originally Shamlat Deh, which was transferred to the Waqf Board in the year 1990. It is a matter of investigation under which process this transfer took place.
The Chief Minister said that the government is committed to the protection of Shamlat land and ponds, johads and water reservoirs will be protected under the new law. He announced that a committee will be formed under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Rohtak, Divisional Commissioner Karnal and Deputy Commissioner Rohtak to investigate the matter. This committee will investigate how Peer Bodhi's land was transferred to the Waqf Board and how it was occupied. This step of the government can also affect other disputed land cases in the state.
