Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu):In Haryana, police officers will no longer be allowed to use mobile phones or social media during their duty hours. The Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrughan Kapoor has imposed a complete ban on officers carrying mobile phones while on duty. The use of any other electronic devices will also be prohibited.

DGP Explains the Reasons Behind the Order

According to a letter from the police headquarters, the use of mobile phones or other electronic communication devices during duty distracts officers, which could endanger public safety. Additionally, it has been tarnishing the image of the police. In light of these concerns, the decision has been made to ban the use of mobile phones and other electronic devices during duty hours.

Guidelines for Emergency Communication

Police officers will provide their mobile numbers to their unit heads. During their duty, the officers' mobile phones will be collected, and a record will be maintained. In case of an emergency, officers will be able to contact their families using the unit head’s phone number.
