Karnal (The Uttam Hindu): A significant danger has emerged concerning the Kaithal Road Railway Flyover in Karnal, Haryana. This morning, a support jack underneath the flyover unexpectedly collapsed, causing the structure to sink by 3 to 5 inches, which has raised alarms among local residents.

Residents promptly alerted the police, who arrived at the scene to assess the safety situation. Despite the concerns, vehicles continue to pass over the flyover, increasing the risk of a major accident. Eyewitnesses Sunil, Harbhajan, and Rohit reported hearing the jack fall early in the morning, and they noted that the bridge shakes whenever vehicles cross. Out of fear, locals have begun removing their belongings stored beneath the flyover and have warned others to stay vigilant.

There is a palpable atmosphere of fear among nearby residents, prompting them to take precautionary measures to avoid any untoward incidents.

In response to the situation, the Ramnagar police station dispatched officers to the site to evaluate the circumstances. For safety reasons, the police have prohibited heavy vehicles from using the flyover, redirecting traffic to the Kachhwa and Gogdipur flyovers to prevent potential accidents.

SHO of Ramnagar police station, Praveen Kumar, confirmed that administrative officials have been notified, and the relevant department is expected to expedite repairs on the flyover. Additionally, the officials have assured residents that they will take necessary measures to ensure safety and address the situation promptly.
