Churdhar Trek Banned Amid Snowfall: One Haryana Youth Rescued, Search for Missing Continues

Haryana (The Uttam Hindu): The district administration has imposed a ban on traveling to Churdhar Peak due to heavy snowfall, but some individuals are still defying the ban and attempting the journey. Recently, two youths from Haryana, who came to visit Churdhar, found themselves in danger. While one was rescued by a team, the other remains missing.
Vikram, son of Baldev Raj from Sector 12, Panchkula, and Akshay from Sector 15, Panchkula, started their journey from Nauhradhar on Wednesday during the Shivratri festival. Around 7 p.m., when they reached a large stone below the Shivling, the two got separated. Vikram called out and attempted to contact Akshay, but his phone was unreachable. Vikram then made his way to the temple, where he posted a video on social media, alerting authorities about Akshay’s disappearance.
The journey from Nauhradhar to Churdhar was challenging due to heavy rain and snowfall, with over 7 feet of snow accumulating in the area. The Tehsildar of Nauhradhar informed the Chaupal administration about the situation. A police team managed to rescue Vikram from Churdhar and brought him back to Nauhradhar that night. On Thursday evening, a search team was dispatched to locate Akshay, but continuous snowfall forced the team to return to Nauhradhar.
Snowfall continued in Churdhar on Friday, and no new information about the missing Akshay has emerged. Once the weather improves, a rescue operation will be launched to find him, involving local residents, the forest department, and the revenue department. The administration has also notified the Shimla team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), who are expected to arrive by Friday evening. The search operation is set to begin on Saturday.
