BJP MLA's Sister Dies After Visiting Sick Father in Dadri, Ate Dinner and Never Woke Up
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Usha Kadia, the sister of BJP MLA Sunil Sangwan from Charkhi Dadri passed away on Tuesday. She had visited Dadri to check on her father, former minister Satpal Sangwan who was unwell. After having dinner she went to bed but did not wake up the next morning. When family members tried to wake her they immediately contacted doctors. Upon examination, the doctors confirmed her death suspecting that she had suffered a heart attack. Usha Kadia, a resident of Sector-7 Karnal had retired from her role as a government teacher a year and a half ago. Her mortal remains will be transported to Karnal in the evening for her final rites.
Usha was the eldest daughter of Satpal Sangwan, who had three children. Her younger sister, Suman is an Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax in Gurugram, while her brother, Sunil Sangwan is the current MLA from Dadri and a former jailer. On Tuesday, Sunil Sangwan was en route to Chandigarh when he received the heartbreaking news about his sister’s passing. He quickly returned to Dadri. Upon hearing about Usha Kadia's death, the residents of Dadri gathered at the family’s home to offer their condolences. MLA Expresses Grief, "An Irreplaceable Loss for the Family"
In his statement following his sister's passing, MLA Sunil Sangwan expressed his grief:
"With great sadness, I inform you all that my elder sister and former minister Satpal Sangwan’s daughter, retired teacher Usha Kadia has passed away suddenly at her residence in Dadri." He further shared that her sudden demise was an irreplaceable loss for the entire family. Her last rites were scheduled for Tuesday at 4:30 PM in Karnal. Sunil also prayed for her soul to find peace in the afterlife.
Satpal Sangwan: Twice an MLA and Former Minister
Satpal Sangwan's political career began when he was first elected as an MLA from Charkhi Dadri in 1996 on a Haryana Vikas Party ticket. He was closely associated with former Chief Minister Bansi Lal who encouraged him to leave his job as an SDO in BSNL and join politics. In 2009, Satpal Sangwan won as an MLA on a Janhit Congress ticket. After the merger of Janhit Congress with Congress, he became the Cooperation Minister in the Hooda government. He contested the 2014 elections on a Congress ticket but lost. In 2019, after Congress denied him a ticket, he contested on a Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) ticket and secured second place. Before the 2024 assembly elections, he joined the BJP and fielded his son, Sunil Sangwan as the party’s candidate from the Dadri seat.
