Gohana (The Uttam Hindu): Surendra, the BJP’s Mudlana Mandal president, was tragically shot dead on the evening of March 13 in his village, Jawahara, Gohana. Initially, the murder was believed to be the result of a land dispute. However, new revelations have come to light, as Surendra’s uncle, Sultan, claimed that the murder was actually driven by election rivalry. According to Sultan, Surendra had contested the Sarpanch elections but lost by just fifty votes. He believes the murder was orchestrated by the supporters of Vijay Sarpanch, who saw Surendra’s candidacy as a threat. Sultan also expressed concerns for his own safety, stating that many people were involved in the murder and that his life was now in danger.

Sultan further criticized the police investigation, claiming it had not progressed satisfactorily. He has now appealed to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for justice in the case. CM Khattar’s assurances were further reinforced when Haryana CM Naib Singh Saini visited Surendra’s family in Jawahara to offer his condolences and support.

On March 14, Surendra was shot by Mannu, son of Jagdish, in the village street. Two to three shots were fired, one hitting Surendra in the street and another in a nearby shop. Initial reports had suggested the motive was a land deal dispute, with Surendra having purchased land from Mannu’s aunt in 2021, sparking a rivalry between the two. However, the unfolding details now point toward a deeper election-related conflict as the possible motive behind the murder.
