Zeenat Aman Pens Emotional Tribute to Manoj Kumar Following His Passing

Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Zeenat Aman, co-star of the legendary actor and director Manoj Kumar, penned a heartfelt tribute following his passing. Expressing her grief, Zeenat shared a throwback picture with Manoj Kumar, who was fondly known as Bharat Kumar, on her Instagram. She wrote, "Saddened to learn about the passing of Manoj Kumar. May his soul rest in peace."
The iconic duo starred together in the 1974 drama *Roti Kapda Aur Makaan*, where Manoj Kumar played Bharat and Zeenat portrayed Sheetal. The film, directed by Manoj Kumar, became a huge hit and was the highest-grossing film of the year. The story follows a man struggling to support his family after his father's death, and the song "Main Na Bhoolunga" remains a memorable classic in the hearts of film lovers. Filmmaker Subhash Ghai also mourned the loss of Manoj Kumar, calling him one of India's finest filmmakers whose influence continues to inspire the industry. He shared, “He was one of the biggest filmmakers we had, and his work continues to motivate the next generation.”
Veteran actor Raj Babbar joined in the tributes, urging that Manoj Kumar be honored with India's highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna. Babbar described Manoj as a true patriot who worked to instill the dignity of India in his films. “He solidified the dignity of our country and paid respect to the freedom fighters of India. His legacy will forever live on through his work,” Babbar said. Manoj Kumar’s last rites took place in the Vile Parle area of Mumbai, where he was given a state funeral complete with a Guard of Honour. Many members of the film industry, including Amitabh Bachchan, Salim Khan, Prem Chopra, Raza Murad, Vindu Dara Singh, Anu Malik, and Dheeraj Kumar, gathered to pay their last respects.
