Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Famous Punjabi singer and Bollywood actor, Harrdy Sandhu, was detained by the Chandigarh Police just moments before his scheduled performance at a fashion show at the Exhibition Ground in Sector 34 on Saturday. Sandhu was escorted to the Sector 34 police station after it was revealed that he was about to perform without the necessary permissions. However, after the event organizers presented the required documentation, confirming the permissions for both the fashion show and the music performance, Sandhu was released. The situation left both the singer and the event organizers frustrated and they subsequently raised the matter with higher authorities for further clarification.

Sources indicated that Sandhu ultimately left the city without performing at the event. Attempts to contact the organizers of the fashion show for comment were unsuccessful. The incident follows a recent decision by the UT Administration, which, after live performances by singers Karan Aujla and Diljit Dosanjh at the Sector 34 ground in December of the previous year, imposed new restrictions. The administration had decided that no large-scale live concerts or similar events would be permitted at Sector 34 going forward. As a result, the venue for Punjabi singer AP Dhillon's performance was relocated to the Rally Ground in Sector 25, despite initial requests for permission at Sector 34.
