Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh's recent concert in Chandigarh has kicked up a storm and is now under legal scrutiny. The much-talked-about event now faces a legal challenge as the Chandigarh administration filed a response in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. According to the administration, the concert had violated noise pollution standards during night Diljit Dosanjh's Chandigarh Concert in Controversy, Faces New Legal Trouble

time, with sound levels exceeding permissible limits.

The administration's response shows that the decibel level throughout the show remained well above 75 decibels, which violated prescribed noise regulations for nocturnal events. The show organizers have been served with a show-cause notice by the authorities. A report submitted to the Deputy Commissioner by the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC) showed that the sound levels throughout the concert were ranging from 70 to 80 decibels, thus violating noise control norms.

Before the concert, on December 13, the High Court had strictly ordered that at any function, the sound level must not exceed 75 decibels. The court further threatened to take stern action if these rules were not obeyed. These instructions had been passed following a petition filed by Sector 23 resident Ranjit Singh seeking noise control in events in the city. The court had further directed that a report on the adherence to noise regulations be submitted by December 18.

In the midst of the controversy, Diljit Dosanjh took to social media to clarify his stance, stating that there were issues with the venue in Chandigarh. He mentioned that he would not perform in the city again until a proper venue was found. However, the post was deleted just 20 minutes later. The High Court has adjourned the case to January while it considers the legal implications of the incident.
