New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A court in Mumbai has instructed the city police to conduct an inquiry into a criminal complaint filed against film and television producer Ekta Kapoor. The complaint accuses Kapoor of disrespecting Indian soldiers in one of her web series. The case was brought before a magistrate's court in Bandra, which directed the police to submit a report on the complaint by May 9, in accordance with Section 202 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. This section allows a magistrate to either conduct an inquiry into the complaint or direct the police to investigate it.

The complaint, filed by YouTuber Vikas Pathak, also known as 'Hindustani Bhau,' names Ekta Kapoor, her OTT platform Alt Balaji, and her parents, Shobha and Jeetendra Kapoor. The complaint, filed through advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh, alleges that a web series on Alt Balaji depicted a military officer engaged in an "illicit sexual act" in one of its episodes. Pathak, who came across the episode in May 2020, claimed that the accused had "stooped to a cheap low" by portraying an Indian Army military uniform involved in an illicit act, which he said targeted the dignity and pride of the country. The national emblem was also reportedly featured in the controversial scene.
