Young Man Arrested for Strangling Girlfriend to Death in Car

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In a shocking case of murder, a young man named Asif strangled his girlfriend, Komal, to death in his car after becoming angry over her communication with other boys. To dispose of the body, he drove around for a long time before enlisting the help of his friend Javed alias Zubair. Together, they reached Chhawla, where they disposed of Komal's body in the Najafgarh drain. To prevent the body from floating out, the two tied her hands and legs with a rope and attached a stone. However, five days later, the body surfaced, and Chhawla police recovered it.
On March 17, the Chhawla police station received information about the body found in the Najafgarh drain. Upon retrieval, the body was found in a decomposed state. The Chhawla police notified all police stations in Delhi, and the family of a missing girl from Nand Nagari identified the body as their daughter Komal. Komal had been missing since March 12, and a missing person’s report had been filed at Nand Nagari police station.
During their investigation, police discovered that Komal's last phone call was made to Asif, a taxi driver. After being taken into custody, Asif admitted to being friends with Komal for five years. He revealed that she had been ignoring him recently, and he found out she was talking to other boys. On the pretext of having a conversation, Asif called her to Nirman Vihar, where they both left together in his taxi. During their conversation, they had an argument, and in a fit of rage, Asif strangled Komal to death. He then disposed of her body with the help of his friend Javed.
After the post-mortem on Thursday, Komal's family attempted to stage a protest near Gagan Cinema in Nand Nagri, demanding justice for her death. However, top police officials intervened and persuaded them to stop the protest.
Komal's grandmother, Vimala, expressed outrage over the incident, stating that Komal had never been friends with Asif. She demanded the death penalty for both Asif and Javed. Vimala also shared that Javed, who lived in the neighborhood, and Asif, who lived in Sundar Nagri, were not known to Komal's family. Following the incident, Javed’s wife and children reportedly fled the area.
