New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has faced a setback as two of its leaders, Ramesh Pehlwan and his wife Kusum Lata, joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday. Kusum Lata, who previously served as a BJP councilor from the Kasturba Nagar Assembly constituency, has now switched allegiance to AAP.

The couple was welcomed into the party by AAP's national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, and senior Delhi leader Durgesh Pathak. During the induction ceremony, both leaders pledged to actively contribute to the party's activities and goals.

This development is being seen as a significant political shift in the Kasturba Nagar Assembly constituency. Currently, the seat is held by AAP’s Madan Lal, who has represented the constituency for two terms. Speculations are now rife that Ramesh Pehlwan might receive AAP’s ticket for the upcoming elections, potentially posing a fresh challenge to the BJP in the region. Political analysts are closely watching the impact of this move, considering how it might alter AAP's position and strategy in Kasturba Nagar, especially with the elections approaching.
