Gurugram (The Uttam Hindu) : A man has been arrested in Gurugram on charges of killing his wife by pushing her off a roof, according to police reports. The accused allegedly attempted to deceive both the victim's family and the authorities, claiming that her death was the result of a slip and fall. The incident occurred during the night of October 22-23, prompting police to respond to reports of a woman's death. Upon arrival at SGT Hospital Budhera, the police inspected the body and ordered an autopsy.

The accused, Dharam Singh, also known as Dharmu (32), reportedly pushed his wife Geeta (28) during a heated argument about drug use. Geeta's father informed police that his daughter had been subjected to abuse by her husband, who is originally from Dausa, Rajasthan. He alleged that on October 22, Dharam killed Geeta by pushing her off the roof in the Wazirpur area of Gurugram. Following the father’s complaint, a murder case was registered at the Sector-10A police station. Sandeep Kumar, the Station House Officer, and his team apprehended Dharam in Garhi Harsaru village on Wednesday. During interrogation, it was revealed that Dharam worked as a bike repairer.


According to Sandeep Kumar, there was a history of domestic violence. On the night of the incident, Dharam had been using drugs when Geeta arrived, leading to a fight that culminated in him pushing her off the roof. Dharam also admitted during questioning that he tried to mislead his in-laws about the circumstances of Geeta's death, insisting she had slipped. The investigation is ongoing.
