"Donate Rs 100, Rs 1000, or more… I need Rs 40 lakh," CM Atishi Appeals to Public for Election Funds

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, during a press conference on Sunday, highlighted how the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has always relied on public support and donations since its inception. She recalled the party's journey during the 2013 elections, where they would go door-to-door seeking small contributions. “After street corner meetings, we would spread a sheet, and people would donate Rs 10, Rs 50 or Rs 100. The honest politics of AAP has been possible because we never accepted funds from big businessmen,” she said.
Atishi emphasized that political parties funded by large corporations often work in the interests of those business entities once in power. She stated, “Today, I am launching a crowdfunding campaign for my election. I need Rs 40 lakh to contest. I appeal to the people of Delhi and the country to donate. You can contribute through the link atishi.aamaadmiparty.org. Whether you donate Rs 100, Rs 1000 or more, it is your contributions that will enable me to contest the assembly elections in Kalkaji.”
She also pointed out the challenges of fighting elections honestly. “It is easy to raise Rs 40 lakh through wrongful means. Delhi’s budget is Rs 77,000 crore. If I chose the wrong path, it wouldn’t even take a day to collect Rs 40 lakh,” she said. Atishi urged citizens to support her honest approach to politics and help her continue the fight for transparency and integrity in governance.
