Delhi Police Detains Swati Maliwal for Throwing Garbage Outside Kejriwal's Residence

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Delhi Police has taken Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal into custody as she was protesting against the deteriorating sanitation system in the city. Swati Maliwal had arrived outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence to throw garbage as part of her demonstration. While being taken into custody, Swati Maliwal told the media that today, Delhi has become a garbage bin. She mentioned that she had come to meet Arvind Kejriwal and criticizing him, stated that the public would correct him. Maliwal also added that she wasn’t afraid of the police.
Swati Maliwal was on her way to throw garbage collected from Vikaspuri in front of Kejriwal's house, supported by several other women. She stated that Kejriwal has turned Delhi into the capital of garbage. She also said that the road in Vikaspuri would be cleared and all the garbage would be thrown at Kejriwal's residence.
Maliwal emphasized that the protest was not against any particular party but to highlight the dire state of Delhi. She mentioned that every corner of Delhi is filthy, roads are broken and drains are overflowing. She said that the women of Vikaspuri had complained about the garbage pile on the streets but even after raising it with the local MLA, no action was taken. Maliwal explained, "I have come here to participate in the cleanliness campaign led by women. We will take this garbage to Arvind Kejriwal’s house and ask him what he plans to do about the dirt he has gifted to every part of Delhi. Kejriwal is no longer a common man. He has no understanding of the ground realities of Delhi."
