New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha announced on Friday their plans to march to Delhi on December 6 if the Centre does not resume talks with them. The two farm unions, which have been at the forefront of a prolonged agitation, are demanding a guaranteed minimum support price (MSP) for their crops.

During a press conference, leaders from both organizations revealed that farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal would begin a fast unto death on November 26 in support of the ongoing protest. The unions, which have been leading the movement since February 13, 2024, have made several attempts to get the government's attention, but their earlier efforts have been thwarted by police action, leading to clashes between the farmers and law enforcement.

The planned march to Delhi is seen as a decisive step in the continuing struggle for farmers' rights. According to Sarwan Singh Pandher, a key farm leader, the march will begin in small batches to avoid large-scale disruptions initially. He emphasized that the unions have already given enough time for the Centre to address their demands, and if no action is taken, they will escalate their protests further.

The farmers' demand for a fair MSP is central to their agitation, which has garnered significant attention across the country. The upcoming protest in Delhi is expected to reignite tensions between farmers and the government, as the unions remain determined to have their voices heard.
