New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Delhi government will provide ₹1000 every month to women under the newly launched Mahila Samman Nidhi Yojana. The scheme, which will be available to all women who are 18 years or older, was announced by Arvind Kejriwal, the former Chief Minister of Delhi and National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Registration for the scheme begins today, and Kejriwal stated that after the upcoming elections, the amount will be increased to ₹2100 per month for women.

In addition to this, on December 10, Kejriwal made four major announcements for auto drivers:

1. A ₹1 lakh financial aid for the marriage of an auto driver's daughter.

2. A ₹2500 subsidy for the purchase of uniforms during Diwali and Holi.

3. ₹10 lakh life insurance and ₹5 lakh accidental insurance for auto drivers.

4. Financial assistance for the coaching of auto drivers' children.

Regarding the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, Kejriwal clarified that AAP would fight the elections independently and dismissed any possibility of an alliance with Congress. Despite reports suggesting that AAP might offer 15 seats to Congress, Kejriwal refuted these claims on social media. AAP has so far declared candidates for 31 seats, and notably, 24 out of the 27 sitting AAP MLAs from the 2020 election will not be re-nominated.
