New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), air pollution levels in Delhi and its surrounding regions have reached alarming levels. As of 7:30 AM on Sunday, the average Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi had surpassed 400, placing it in the "severe" category. Several other major cities in the Delhi-NCR region also recorded concerning pollution levels.

In Delhi, eight key areas reported AQI levels exceeding 400, with some nearing 500. Specific readings included 410 in Alipur, 412 in Anand Vihar, 408 in Nehru Nagar, 404 in Vivek Vihar, and 409 in Wazirpur. These severe levels pose significant health risks to residents.

Other parts of Delhi recorded AQI levels in the "very poor" to "severe" categories. Notable readings include:

>Ashok Vihar: 392

>Aya Nagar: 313

>Burari Crossing: 362

>Chandni Chowk: 353

>Dwarka Sector 8: 400

>IGI Airport: 327

>Rohini: 382

>ITO: 320

AQI levels consistently above 300 indicate hazardous air quality, which can cause breathing difficulties, especially for children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory conditions. Most areas in Delhi-NCR recorded AQI levels well above 300, indicating poor to severe air quality, potentially endangering public health if conditions persist.
