Punjab Govt’s relief policy: Mohali DC calls for timely plot registrations

New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): Mohali Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain has urged residents to complete the registration of their plots in unauthorized colonies before the Punjab government’s deadline of February 28. The policy, aimed at providing relief to plot holders with land up to 500 square yards, offers an opportunity to legalize their properties before the cutoff date. Jain highlighted that as per Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s directives, amendments to the Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation Act, effective from December 1, 2024, allow for the registration of plots in unauthorized colonies under Sub-Section 5. To facilitate this, sub-registrars and joint sub-registrars across all tehsils and sub-tehsils in the district have been instructed to ensure maximum benefit for plot holders.
She also reminded residents that the exemption from obtaining no-objection certificates (NOCs) from the housing and urban development and local bodies departments remains valid only until February 28. As per the notification, any person who entered into a power of attorney or agreement to sell on stamp paper before July 31, 2024, for an area up to 500 square yards in an unauthorized colony, is eligible to register their plot.
Additionally, plot holders must submit an undertaking affirming that their land does not fall within restricted zones, such as areas along scheduled roads, national highways, or other regions designated under central or state laws. They must also confirm that the registration and use of their plot comply with regional and master plans, as well as other applicable restrictions. With the deadline fast approaching, residents are encouraged to act promptly to benefit from this policy, ensuring their property’s legal status and avoiding future complications.
