New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): After the action against farmers in Punjab, Bhagwant Mann government has called a meeting of farmers. The Punjab government has called the farmers for talks at Punjab Bhawan (Chandigarh) at 4 pm on Friday. This meeting will be chaired by Punjab Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudiya.

Let us tell you that the farmer leaders have announced to march in front of the Punjab Assembly on March 26, in view of which this meeting has been called. The state government has called the United Kisan Morcha (SKM) and the Ugraon group for talks. It is noteworthy that the Haryana Police has removed the cement walls on the Khanauri border between Punjab and Haryana. These walls were built to stop the farmers. After removing this wall, the way has been cleared from the Haryana side. Along with this, the Punjab Police has also evacuated the farmers from Khanauri and Shambhu border and evacuated the area. This action started on the night of March 19, after which the Haryana Police removed the barricading on its part on March 20.

Let us tell you that the farmers' protest at Khanauri and Shambhu border was going on since February 13 last year. The farmers demanded that a legal guarantee of minimum support price be given, but due to this protest that lasted for more than a year, the lives of the local people were getting affected. Punjab Police cleared the border with more than 3,000 soldiers, in which tents and temporary structures were removed using bulldozers. After this, Haryana Police also opened the way by removing cement walls and other barriers.

Officials say that soon the traffic on both the borders will become normal. The villagers believe that this will bring their lives back on track and business and employment will also improve. The people living nearby are happy with this decision. Due to the border being closed for the last one year, the villagers were facing a lot of problems. Local people say that the closure of the border not only affected their daily life but also caused financial loss.
