"Come Forward If You Have Courage": DGP Gaurav Yadav Takes a Stand on Bomb Attacks

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab’s DGP Gaurav Yadav has revealed details about the grenade attacks on abandoned police stations in the border regions of Punjab. He stated that Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI, is behind these attacks. DGP Gaurav Yadav said that ISI wants to disrupt the peace in Punjab and create a perception that the state is unsafe. While responding to media queries at the Chief Minister’s residence, Yadav termed those who are throwing bombs at abandoned police stations to spread fear as cowards. He said, “This is cowardice. If they have the courage, they should come forward and do something.”
So far, there have been nine attacks on police stations in Punjab. The first attack took place on November 24, 2024, at the Ajnala police station, where an attempt was made to blow it up with an IED. However, the remote control used by the handler fell from his hands, preventing the incident from occurring. Two days later, a bomb explosion occurred at a police station in Amritsar that had been closed for six months. Similarly, another explosion took place at an abandoned police station in Amritsar this past Monday. After nine bomb blasts in the border areas, DGP Gaurav Yadav publicly addressed the issue and challenged the perpetrators: "If they have the courage, they should come forward and do something."
Notably, the police have consistently denied that bomb explosions have occurred at police stations or posts after each attack. For instance, after the attack on the Majitha police station on December 4, a DSP-level officer had initially claimed that a policeman was filling air in a motorcycle tire, which caused it to burst. However, the police later arrested the person responsible for the attack on the station.
