New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Rohan Mirchandani, the 42-year-old co-founder of the popular yogurt brand Epigamia, tragically passed away on December 21 due to a sudden cardiac arrest, as confirmed by Drums Food International, the parent company. The company released a statement expressing deep sorrow: "With heavy hearts, Drums Food International confirms the untimely passing of our beloved founder, Rohan Mirchandani, who suffered a sudden cardiac arrest yesterday. We kindly request that the media and public respect the privacy of Rohan’s family during this challenging time."

The leadership at Epigamia, including Ankur Goel (COO & Founding Member) and Uday Thakker (Co-founder & Director), will continue managing the company’s daily operations, with the full support of the Board of Directors, Rohan’s family, Raj Mirchandani, Verlinvest, and DSG Consumer Partners, as stated in the company’s message. Rohan Mirchandani, a graduate of NYU Stern and the Wharton School, founded Drums Food International in 2013. Under his guidance, Epigamia became one of India's leading FMCG brands, gaining immense popularity in urban areas. The brand’s innovative line of flavored Greek yogurts captured the attention of health-conscious consumers and solidified its position as a household name.

Mirchandani’s death follows a series of unfortunate events in India’s startup ecosystem, with notable losses such as the death of Rohan Malhotra, co-founder of Good Capital, on October 1, and Ambareesh Murty, the 51-year-old co-founder of Pepperfry, who also passed away from a cardiac arrest. Radhika Gupta, Managing Director and CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Fund, shared her concerns over the increasing number of heart attacks and stress-related illnesses affecting people in their 40s and 50s. "It is heartbreaking to witness so many individuals I know losing their lives to heart attacks and stress-related ailments in their 40s and 50s," Gupta expressed on Twitter. "It truly makes you question a lot of things."
