New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI has issued a statement denying allegations of sexual abuse made by his sister, Ann Altman. The lawsuit filed by Ann claims that Sam abused her over a span of several years from 1997 to 2006. In response, Sam and his family have categorically rejected the allegations calling them "utterly untrue." Ann's lawsuit, which has been reported by a reliable source, accuses Sam of manipulating and abusing her during their childhood in Missouri, starting when she was just 3 years old.

The legal filing states that the abuse continued until she was a minor by which time Sam had become an adult. Ann has previously made similar accusations on social media. In her lawsuit, Ann claims that the abuse led to severe emotional distress, mental anguish and depression, which she says will continue to affect her in the future. Sam Altman, now 39 responded on X (formerly Twitter) with a statement on behalf of himself, his family and his brother. The statement expresses that the allegations are false and it outlines the family's efforts over the years to support Ann through various means, including paying bills, helping with rent, finding job opportunities, covering medical costs and even offering to purchase her a house. Despite these efforts, Sam's family claims that Ann continues to demand more financial support and has made false and hurtful claims about them, particularly regarding Sam. The family out of respect for Ann's privacy and their own had previously refrained from addressing the situation publicly. However, given the legal action now being taken, they felt compelled to do so.

The family also states that Ann has made additional accusations, including claims that they withheld funds from their father’s 401k, hacked her Wi-Fi and "shadowbanned" her on platforms such as ChatGPT and Twitter. "The most serious allegation she has made is that Sam sexually abused her as a child and she has also claimed abuse by others," the statement reads. "Her claims have changed over time and the latest iteration includes allegations of incidents occurring when Sam was over 18 years old." The family expresses deep pain over the situation, particularly as Ann refuses conventional treatment and lashes out at family members who are trying to offer support. They conclude the statement by reiterating that the allegations are "utterly untrue" and that the situation has caused immense distress for everyone involved.
