New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Global iPhone revenues hit a record $46.2 billion in the September quarter, reflecting a 6 percent increase compared to the same period last year, with growth across all geographic segments, according to Apple. CEO Tim Cook highlighted the introduction of Apple Intelligence and the features of the iPhone 16, including its impressive 48-megapixel Fusion camera and innovative action button, during a discussion with analysts following the quarterly results.
In addition to iPhone sales, Apple's services revenue also reached an all-time high of $25 billion, marking a 12 percent year-over-year growth. CFO Luca Maestri noted the company's strong performance worldwide, achieving record results in both developed and emerging markets, with double-digit growth across various services categories. Meanwhile, Mac revenue grew to $7.7 billion, up 2 percent, as Apple introduced new silicon chips, including the M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max, designed to enhance performance for complex workflows.
The iPad also saw an uptick in revenue, reaching $7 billion, an 8 percent increase from the previous year. Cook pointed out that the iPad Air gained popularity among students and teachers returning to school, while the M4-powered iPad Pro attracted creators pushing the limits of creativity. However, revenue from wearables, home, and accessories decreased by 3 percent to $9 billion. Earlier in the year, Apple announced Apple Intelligence, a personal intelligent system that enhances user experience across devices, offering features like improved writing tools, a more conversational Siri, and advanced photo capabilities.
