Woman Duped on Pretext of Doubling Money; Friends Distract Husband Amid Shocking Crime

Gurugram (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking case of rape and fraud has emerged from Sohna, Haryana where a woman was repeatedly raped under the pretext of doubling her money. The accused also cheated her out of ₹2 lakh claiming it would be invested in the stock market.

According to the police, the complainant who lives with her family in a rented house in the Sohna area said that her neighbor frequently visited her home and convinced her to invest in the stock market for lucrative returns. She alleged that the accused maintained physical relations with her for eight months during which his friends monitored her husband to prevent any suspicion.

The complainant stated that when she asked for her money back the accused lured her to his brother's flat where he and another person raped her. When she resisted, the accused threatened her with severe consequences. She also revealed that the accused recorded the assault and used the video to blackmail her refusing to return her money and threatening to release the video if she demanded it again.

On Saturday, the police registered a case and sent the victim for a medical examination. Praveen Kumar, SHO of Sohna City Police Station confirmed that the woman’s statement will be recorded soon and a team has been formed to locate and arrest the accused.

In another incident, the Udyog Vihar police arrested a man identified as Karan Singh from Kaithal district for cheating people by promising jobs through a fake company, "Reliable Global Private Limited." A complaint filed on Friday led to his arrest from the Udyog Vihar area on Saturday. The accused was presented in court and has been remanded to police custody for three days for further questioning.
