Sharing Photos on WhatsApp Will Be Twice as Fun with Upcoming Amazing Feature

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): WhatsApp is gearing up to introduce a new feature that will make sharing photos even more exciting for users. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the messaging platform is working on adding support for sharing motion photos in individual chats, group chats, and channels. The feature, which allows users to share a short video clip with audio and a still image captured simultaneously, was spotted in the latest beta version of the app for Android devices.
Motion photos, a feature supported by select Android smartphones, record a brief video and some audio alongside the photo when taken. On iOS, this feature is known as Live Photos. WhatsApp's new feature aims to let users share these motion pictures in chats and channels, enhancing the way images are shared on the platform.
Currently, the motion photo feature is available on certain Android smartphones, but recipients on devices that do not support it will still be able to view the content. The feature was first noticed in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.8.12 update, but users will not be able to test it yet, as it is still under development.
The update will introduce a new media picker button, with an icon located next to the HD button in the pop-up card when users try to share a photo. This will allow users to select and share motion photos, while iPhone users will be able to see the photos as Live Photos once the feature is rolled out on iOS.
At this stage, there is no official timeline for when the feature will be made available to beta testers or when it will be rolled out to all users. However, once it is ready, it will first be accessible to Android beta testers before becoming available to the wider user base.
